SWIRLY GIRLY

AHIMSA - ADAPTABILITY - CONNECTION

We want Serendipia de Arrebol to be a welcoming space to everyone, besideds your (physical) abilities, age, gender, etc. Swirly Girly is based on the disability of Jessie. She has a connective tissue disorder, but rather than seeing what she can't do (anymore), we prefer to look at the things that are still possible with the help of our community. Named for the fluid, "swirly" nature of living with EDS, this is a space for movement and breath. Living with a connective tissue disorder means navigating a body that is constantly shifting, and our community uses that lived experience to guide others in various adaptive ways.

YOGA

For us, Yoga is the umbrella that covers our entire way of being. It’s the practice of "yoking" or uniting our mountain life with our inner world. Whether we are on the mat or digging in the food forest, Yoga is the awareness we bring to every breath and every interaction with the beings around us.

PRANAYAMA

The breath is the most direct link we have to our nervous system. In our breathwork sessions, we learn to use this tool to find calm amidst the winds of the Pyrenees. It is a simple, profound practice of returning to the present moment, one inhale at a time.

KIRTAN

Kirtan is the yoga of the heart—a meditative practice of call-and-response chanting. You don’t need to be a "singer" to join; the beauty lies in the collective vibration of our voices merging together. It’s a way to quiet the mind through the simple, joyful power of sound.

ASANA

The physical practice of Asana is where we learn to inhabit our bodies with kindness. Especially for those of us with "swirly" or non-typical bodies, these shapes aren't about reaching a destination; they are about feeling safe, stable, and strong exactly where we are today.

WOMEN CIRCLES

A sacred, intentional space to share stories, witness one another, and find strength in community. These circles are about softening the walls we build and remembering the ancient power of gathered voices. It is a place to be heard, held, and seen without masks.

ADAPTIBILITY

In this space, disability isn't a "problem" to be fixed—it is a perspective to be honored. We move and live with a deep respect for different abilities, ensuring our sanctuary and our practices are accessible. Every body belongs here, and every pace is the right pace.
